Blessing of the Animals Service & Festival
 |
St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and the environment and is honored
each year at St. Josephs Blessing of the Animals Service. St. Francis preached to
man and beast the universal ability and duty of men to protect and enjoy nature as
both the stewards of God's creation and as creatures ourselves. The St. Francis of
Assisi Award began in 2010 and recognizes individuals and groups who exemplify the
spirit of St. Francis of Assisi in our community.
Candidates for the St. Francis of Assisi Award should compassionately, generously
and consistently give of their time, talent and treasure for the good of animals and the
environment. Nominations must be submitted on or before September 2, 2011.
The award will be presented at the annual Blessing of the Animals Service on
September 25, 2011, at 4:00 p.m.
